Not a day goes by that
I don't spend at least a little time listening to music. Moreso than just
listening to whatever's on the radio though, I tend to listen to songs and
albums from my own collection.
Obviously, if I have
something in there, then it has some meaning to me other than being
something to hum along to for three and a half minutes!! So, what I
thought I'd do then, is put together a little list of some of my favorite
songs, songs that have left me in awe of the writers and performers, from
the very first time I heard them.
A feeling that, with
every listen, grows still stronger all the time. If you ever get the
chance, give any of these songs a few minutes to find their way into your
heart and I promise, they'll do just that. I couldn't put them into any
kind of numerical order because they're all masterpieces in their own ways
and I love them all equally myself.
That said though,
there been have two occasions in my life when I've listened to an album
for the first time and been totally gobsmacked by what I heard. Now when I
say gobsmacked, I mean it to the point of thinking, well I may as well
give up writing myself because what I heard was on another level
completely.
Just out of this
world.
The albums I'm talking
about are " PIECES OF YOU ", the debut release by Alaskan singer/
songwriter Jewel, and " KRISTOFFERSON " , the classic first collection of
Kris Kristofferson. Top of the pile then, are a couple of songs from these
two albums.
